Thread: 2nd. video @ Homestead 05 Sprint Race

Here is the 2nd video at Homestead. The same day after the enduro. last race of the day. It was HOT 90*+. The qualifying time was from the day before. The error at timing & scoring was not resolved. The black Acura driven by Andrew Lewis, our numbers were reversed 4 vs 04. I had his qualifying position and he had mine. I just let him by without any problem.

I was fixed on the CRX at the start. Not very fast but handles very well and a good driver. The RX-7 had the right driver it, Speed Source preped. The digital dash cost more than my car, not to mention the shocks.
We, (RX-7) figured out each others weakness, his was to protect his car, mine was old tires, worn shocks and a twitchie car as the result. WE had a good battle and the Civic getting caught in the middle.
The rx-7 passed me eventually as the 30 min race wore on. Some of my mistakes are clear some were just limited by the car.

I take is your Andy. I saw your last vid. Looks like the competition was a bit stepped up since last time. Must've been fun.

Any recent mods. I know it's a stock motor besides your comp. Pistons. Stock ECU too and all on race gas, that it right?

Yup I am Andy. In the enduro I started last because of the timing and scoring error. In this race I started 3 positions ahead of where I should have.

The motor is stock compression, stock cams, no cam gears. The ecu is a JWT tuned to VVL and race fuel. The rest is bolt on intake, intake insulators, hotshot gen 6 header wirh a 3" exhaust turned to the side.
The recent mods are the suspension bits & pieces struts Koni double adj., Nismo LSd, and now the Nitto nt01 225/45 15 tires.

It is lots of fun when everything goes right. When a car is run all out sustained for over 10 min. everything takes a beating, including the driver.

Too bad you don't get to use the turn 3-4 banking. That would be cool as I am sure that you could drive around the top of those other cars and go straight to the front.

Do you know at what RPM your VVL kicks in?

How do you like those tire?

This was before the banking was used. The banking was the next Jan. 06. Nationals.



It was somewhere around 4600 rpm. Now it's at 4800 rpm. That was the smoothest power curve on the dyno. T the time I was playing wit the setting to get less wheel spin out of the turns. You can hear the wheel spin big time in this video as the tires went away. I was on the 205 RA1 at the time.
