The 5" would not do as good of a job at noise reduction as the 6", but I couldn't tell you by how much. =/

Straight through mufflers and resonators are so free flowing I treat them like straight pipes for approximating HP output. They aren't an issue.
If the catalytic converter is newish and decent it should flow very well. It is a minor restriction, but nothing to worry about either.

I guess I'll use resonator 12649 and a 3" highflow magnaflow catalytic converter , all stainless steel. I plan on making a piece of pipe with a 3" diameter that will equal the same length of the resonator and catalytic converter with flanges on the end of it. That way I can do a test and see how much I'm losing. This is something I have thought about for my own personal testing.

ADD ON MAGNAFLOW UNIVERSAL CATALYTIC CONVERTER - 49 STATE EPA OBD-II

^What about this cat with the resonator 12649? Again this is for pitch and sound control. I have heard quite a few turbo cars running straight 3" and their cars sound like they have water in the exhaust or a bubble factory. I'm trying to avoid that and get a deeper tone/note. I'm still going to do what I said with the extra piece of piping from post #42 as well.

Are you planning on running a cat? If so, that one would be a fine choice. Also, it is one of the best things for eliminating rasp and the bubble factory (I like that name) / SRT-4 sound. Did I answer your question?

^Yes thanks. I was just wondering how it would effect performance with air flow, but if I take the car to the track, I would bolt up the long piece I mentioned in one of my previous post. I like to do my own testing. Sometimes you have to spend a little money, but at least I can say I did this personally and these were my results. Gotta pay to play is what I've always been told.

^If anybody know where I can get a resonator with these dims, let me know.

Use the part number to find it on Summit's site or get from Rob.

There's no 5" version like that from magnaflow (we all wish there were).
The best you can get is this: MagnaFlow Performance Exhaust

Which isn't as long as the one you wanted.
These are stainless steel by the way, they have the same in regular steel.

I'll see what I can find from other vendors.

Edit: I remember looking for the same stuff a while back and not finding much at all. All the stuff is 4" diameter.

^Ben, have you ran across a 5" round resonator with the other above dementions instead of 6"?

I haven't been looking. I doubt there have been any new products released, but I could be wrong. Check all the usual companies and see if they've come out with anything.

Apexi
Magnaflow
Flowmaster
Dynomax
Borla
Summit Racing
PaceSetter
Thrush
Vibrant
Burns Stainless

Summit sells most of those, so you can search for most of them there.

What do you know...

Perforated tube: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/JEX-ATT5018S-9/
Glasspack: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/JEX-A5018S/

Those are not stainless though.

^Oh snap. We are getting closer. Find it in 2.5"? Now I just need to find one in stainless steel and I will be in business.
