ive always wondered....how do other people get the lock nut/cage thing secured back on the inner tierod? For me its the biggest pain in the ass 1 to remove one & not damage to much so it can be re-used, 2 to bend down the tabs to "lock" it

no...im talking about the lock washer that is bent around the inner tierod post install

I just did an inner tie rod on my b14 and had to use this tool. Also my factory tie rod didn't have a that lock washer you're talking about enohand. The replacement one I bought came with one but I didn't use it.
