Thread: F1 Racing clutches - DO NOT BUY!!!!.

no offense but this is an ebay clutch, what did you expect? they will prob get a bad rap, re badge and open up under a new company name down the road.

Here are your two problems:

Dont get me wrong i love cheap ebay parts. But i would not buy turbos, clutches, suspension from them. They are good for non moving low stress things, intercooler piping, hoses, exhaust (not manifolds) etc

+1 as stated above, i only purchase low stress things off ebay. i think its interesting to see what unique name they give their brand.

I hear you both on that, I had no expectations for this clutch when I purchased it, all I wanted out of it was 6 months to a year until I was able to build up the funds for the clutch master unit. It ended up lasting 5 weeks and less than 1500 miles. It also appears many have purchased this clutch in the past and chose not to write a review on it. So I decided to go on on the limb and bring this Piece of $hit to anyone's attention that may have this clutch setup in mind. If I'd knew before hand I would have stayed with the OEM unit that came out of the car in the first place. Also who knows I was trying some thing new if it turned out to work great I would have a addition sum of money in my packet for the next upgrade. So I played rus$ian roulette and I lost. I am not too upset over it. I am more upset that a company would put out a product with out any R & D behind it. That truly pisses me off the most.

I could have told you that. F1 and XTD are basicly the same clutches. Cheap ebay clutches. My buddy with his evo bought an XTD to replace his oem and it lasted less than 10k miles and 9 months. And he doesnt even drive the car hard. It wouldnt hold stock boost, intake and exhaust evo's power from the very beginning. Clutch wore and started slipping way too soon. I told him not to buy that clutch. He then went with an ACT Extreme w/ 6 puck disk and its been in there for 2 years now with no issues and 40k miles still holding very very strong, no slipping even under hard launches. Easy to drive and again has lasted.

Buying a cheap clutch is retarded, not even worth the install

I rocked one of these for about a year and a half. ~13,000miles. Yeah it didn't last long, but I wasn't easy on it and I knew it was a ticking time bomb (mine did the exact same thing). Definitely a cheap eBay part. It bit pretty hard though. I just replaced it with an ACT full face. Much better!

With the clutch being such an integral part of your car you really should not skimp on that, among other things

Its hard to keep yourself from getting price gouged in this game also, ACT makes a damn good product with a great rep, sometimes that right there alone is worth the extra money. You also have to consider, when buying cheap/knockoff parts that what happens if it breaks. People will buy a blown garret turbo in need of a rebuild, however people wont buy a blown Godspeed motorsports turbo. At this point your out of the money for that clutch kit, you've already torn it down again to replace it, and now you have to buy another kit, I doubt you will go with the same kit and might do it right this time instead.

I feel you though on being upset about the lack of R and D. But that is what Chinese companies do, and thats how they make prices so low. With labor over there that is just as cheap as slavery, and stolen/ ripped off designs from other companies and no quality control. The sad thing is they steal designs from the name brand companies, and then run them out of business because none of us want to pay more for the "same thing".

Bottom Line

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

I bought one rated for 350hp and it slipped @ 185whp not even abusing it much
