could there be a 1" lip all the way around the outer edge so it will pass NHRA rules as a catch pan? this would be a great idea, could serve 2 purposes at once

How thick would it be?

I would do it out of 5/16" or 3/8". Something thick enough to absorb an impact but also not be 100 lbs.
