CA18DET NX spotted for sale, unusual swap?
So, this popped up on the local craigslist;

Thoughts about this swap? It's rated for 167hp in the registrybook. Should be cheaper to source than a SR20VE? I think it looks bonkers :P Anyone in the states do this kind of swap?

I'd still hit it, after 6 eggs, they're all the same - I'm....I'm an egg whore.

That motor is more sophisticated and advanced than the SR20 but very fickle.

What intake manifold is that? Usually CA motor is center fed manifold.

No, the CA18DET that came in the S13/180SX/200SX came with a "standard" manifold.

That would be weird, as both ZXs have a V6.

However, the RB is basically a CA +2

These motors alway have head gasket issues.Looks like a 1988 to 1990 pulsar motor.

Yes but wouldn't a RWD manifold face the other way? I could swear I've seen RWD ones with centered intake. Its been awhile.

Definitely. I had a B12 w/CA18. Loved that car but damn it blew headgaskets. Mostly I blame it on the Iron block and aluminum head not matching well and Nissan not engineering properly for that.

Apparently, you can flip the TB and the end cap around. It's what everyone does when they swap their Pulsar NX/EXA with one of these.
