The Black Strip, Keep or Paint Over?
I may be painting my NX soon and I'm trying to decide what to do with the stock 91-92 black/gray body strip. My NX is white, and I have grown to kind of like the look of it with the strip. It looks strange on other colors, but on white it has some appeal to me.

Has anyone ever painted their car and kept it? If so, did you paint it black? Or gray? Were they black from the factory and just fade? I think they were dark gray to begin with. Any opinions are welcome, pictures are great.

I like it better when the strip has the same colour as the body. They should've done this from the start, and not just from 1993 and onwards, on the 1.6 EFI version of the EDM NX.

It looks odd on darker colours, and I just hate the colour grey. True, the only colour it looks decent on is white, but then you have the problem that the strip is usually faded in colour.

Here's some pics of black strips on white NX:

Depends what's going on with the car but for the most part I prefer the grey belt, especially on a white NX.

I think it depends on the rest of the car honestly. Wheel color etc. I do agree with the white comments, but I still like mine all white.

Paint the whole thing, then black plastidip what you like. You'll have to keep it plastidiped if you don't eventually like the mono color scheme. But plastidip leaves a grainy texture, like unpainted OEM bumpers. Which is nice IMO.

That is an excellent idea! Thanks

Awesome, thanks for the photos, I've wanted to see what that would look like for a long time.

I think I really prefer the gray over the black, like in the link @MOJO posted above.

I've always been a fan of the solid color. It does seem to look cleaner. I guess I kind of feel like a poser trying to look like a '93 with my '92 or something though, lol.

I've been thinking about it forever, and I still don't know. I'm currently leaning slightly toward all white though. I was also thinking about putting white vinyl on the outside of the t-tops and maybe the B pillar cover, maybe even experimenting with doing white vinyl on the rear quarter window just covering the black area, it would probably look hideous though. It would be interesting to try, I could always take it off.

Damn, that is a good idea... Now you're just making me more indecisive!
