Random question, anybody ever weigh their t-tops. How heavy are they?

This would be a track modification, most tracks would never let you run with T-tops off at least around here. They make us roll the windows up and have the sunroof closed.

Thats if you have no cage. Verts such as miatas and s2ks can run top down with a cage, same applies to top with cage.

Stratton.

same around here....windows up...they are on you about this....if your window isn't closed your not staging =(

PIR requires a roll bar taller than the driver to be on track in addition to all the other saftey rules......my buddie got booted from a track day cause one worker didn't think his SCCA approved roll bar on his miatia was tall enough

but i guss if you track you're nx it would be nice to lose some weight up top....not for me tho....i'm like stratton...i got my tops off as much aas possable...LOL

the seals will be the trickiest/expensive part from my previous research on this.....

I was wanting to do CF t-tops to finish off the NX after my VIS hood and custom hatch GB's but its just not in the cards....I still havent even installed my own hatch and have been on the fence of selling it and my hood lol

Hopefully Will finds the time, but I understand being busy as much as the next guy... good luck!

Cmon down here. Youll find a buyer for that hood and hatch quick

Also I ride with my tops out 75% of the time also. But I like staring at the stars sometimes also through the glass

funny you should say that....Im most likely moving to NC sometime this year

Doing Lexan on CF t-tops wouldn't be too hard but it would just drive the cost up considerably if you use decent grade polycarbonate (which you should, cause you get what you pay for) and have it cut properly.... IIRC, the price I was expecting to hit was between $275-350 per set for a production run of 20 sets...about $100-150 more for lexan, but I really didn't want to bother with that.
I had planned to make them so you could re-use your latch/lock mechanisms, etc..

I'm not too sure how the one piece idea will work/look over the t-bar and how it will atache to both sides and the middle...you will either have to complicate teh attachment points so when you undo one side the other one doesnt bind as well as reinforce the span of the structure and possibly make some ind of provision for the center are to latch or hold onto the tbar to avoid any flutter or vibration issues...the sealing at that point would be more complex too... unless you intended to cut out the t-bar, personally i wouldnt though even though my NX is caged lol

The weight savings would be minimal inall honesty, but if you have the hood in hatch it would look rediculously awesome...alos it was supposed to simultaneously serve as a solution for leaky seals...if you didnt like th CF look you could paint them... the seals is where I ran into the most hurdles though :/ actually having the molds/units made from CF is a walk in the park...
