SR16ve Swap
Not sure if this is the right section to put this so Mods feel free to move it, so here goes.

I've a JN15 Nissan Pulsar VZR here with full running gear that I would like to fit to my GA16 powered 100Nx. I've read about all you guys in America running all the VE conversions on SR20de ECU's using the DE MAF, Dizzy and Loom, some even using the VE loom and DE ECU with VE Loom but considering how hard it is to come by non-NATS SR20de wiring these days in Ireland is next to impossible and i'm not keen on outsourcing from outside the country.

My Question is, will the 16VE loom AND 16VE ECU plug into the NX without issue or is there something I'm over looking?
I know that because it's an older gen. Nissan the clocks of the NX are cable driven so will I need to use a cable driven speedo gear in the RS5F32V box?

Is there any way to wire in the JN15 digital clocks to the NX without much effort (bit of a noob when it comes to electronics) as I much prefer the look of the white dials?

Thanks for any help you can offer as it'll be much appreciated, hoping to get the swap done over the coming weekend (weather dependant really, stupid Ireland and the rain lol)

your NX is older then your jn15 correct? Have you both of them at your home? Have you checked out if the ECU's are interchangeable? I know our b13's/nx's have a completely different ecu and harness and everything from our b14's. You can however mod your current ecu to work with your 16ve. I am sure someone here in the states can help you with that, and maybe even sell you one with a program that might work just fine. There are some harness modifications that will need to be made, but all in all, you should be able to make it work.

The cluster probably wont work, but im not 100% on this. If you search this site, ther eis a lot of info you can work off of. Not sure though how much of it will actually relate to the two (2) cars that your working on.

Thanks for the reply,

Yes the NX is older than the JN15 but unfortunately the N15 is over an hours journey from my home so checking to see if the ECU's are interchangable isn't really an option.

From reading up on here (warning: not sure how accurate what im about to say is but here goes lol) the sr16ve is OBD-1 because in Japan they never changed to OBD-2 like they did with the B14 and B15 you guys have over there so swapping the 16ve ecu/loom in the Nx "shouldn't" cause any trouble because it too would be OBD-1.

What you mentioned about modding the current ECU would be a good option if the car was running an SR20 stock but unfortunately it's only running a GA16 at the minute and as i already mentioned in the OP, sourcing the correct ECU/Loom/Dizzy/MAF is less than desirable for me at the moment, if needs be, I will go down that route though, but as of right now it's a final option for me.

As for the clocks, i've still to do reading up but from what i've read i've not seen anyone mention swapping the speedo gear from the VE transmission

You need to do everything you would do for a standard SR20DE swap (including the fuel tank if you have a GA16DS).

About the wiring: If you have a complete set, just use that, and modify any plugs if they don't fit the NX fittings. It'll be easier and cheaper than getting a tuned ECU.

I believe the only plugs you'll have to repin would be the plugs next to the ecu that connect to the dash harness. You might be able to use the n15 gauge cluster. That all depends on if it fits into your dash. You would need pin outs for both gauge clusters and likely need to run an extra wire for the speedo signal. (this is assuming you use all of the VE wiring.)

When you get into repinning electrical connectors, it becomes daunting if you don't know what you're looking at or how to read and dissect them. It is very time consuming trying to figure out what pins you have to move around and which goes where. Repinning the plugs themselves isn't very difficult. They make a tool very similar to a small flat head screwdriver for depinning Nissan plugs. I recommend getting one.

If you take your time and double check your work, you should do fine.
