Thread: loud bang/rattle

My nx has a super annoying rattle at time banging coming from the rear passanger side on my car. Just the slightest bump in the road cause the rattle that can be heard on the out side of the car. Freeway speed is not so bad. What can I look for trying to find the.source of the noise? I hate it

check your sway bar end links. The look like this.

if you changed your exhaust to a bigger diameter it could be the piping hitting the rear sway bar.

Its the stock exhaust.

Every time I hit a bump mine would bang in the rear like yours. Damn near every part of my suspension was shot. Struts, bushings, end links, etc. Mine would also swerve one way, or the other because of the washers, and bushings missing from the links. There was nothing attached to the sway bars to resist sway.

I just discovered what my rattle was! The brakes are rattling. Just the rear passenger. What can cause that?

take out all your fasteners, clean em up, neverseize them, and put em back on...incl. e-brake...sometimes you get a fake tightening on a bolt because of a burr in the threads...stuff like that. It could really be that simple. Don't know if it could be the hub/bearing disintegrating. One other thing could be that the caliper is siezed up and the pad is rattling around in there...heard of that happening before too.

I think I found what was making that noise. I believe it was the pad not sitting in the caliper correctly. I replaced the pads with new one but its still not it there correctly, there is a small gap between the pad and caliper. I don't know if Nissan casted a bad caliper of what. Every time I hit any sorta bump in the road that pad is bang into the caliper. That make sense?

...you have the pads installed on the opposite sides. That metal tab that is sticking out, should be on the inside of the caliper where the piston seats, the pad on the outside of the caliper facing the wheel should not have a tab on it. Switch them back...
