Fender Rust How bad is this
I just bought this fender from a junkyard in washington for 70$ shipped. I asked the guy if there was any rust and he said no. Well I got it in the mail on friday and this is what I saw.

I spent about 30 mins with 60 grit sandpaper as I have not worked with so much rust since I had my 510.

Is there a faster way to remove all this crap or is it even worth saving? The corners are really hard to get at.If I bought a dremmel would that help with the tight spots? It's only in this one spot the rest of the fender is great. The other side of the fender where the rust is some bubbling. I'm just trying to prep this a bit before I drop it at the body shop for paint.

That's pretty pitted, I would ask for some money back if they said "no rust". Take a wire wheel to it and then prep and paint it with some Por-15 and you will be ok.

Anyone know how to take off the antenna assembly from the fender?

There is a nut on the underside, and the antenna is the top nut, and it all just unscrews.

The top part won't budge a bit, in the pic I don't see any "nut" that you spoke of. I tried with a big screwdriver to unscrew the top off, but it started to tweak the metal so i stopped. Also thanks on the por15 I ordered a starter kit in flat black.

Most cars up this way have no rust. That doesn't excuse it but on most B13s he'd be telling you 100% truth. That doesn't excuse their error but if the guy who took the order sent someone else out to pull the thing... which is most likely. I'd rather have a color matched oem fender even if it took a little work. Aftermarket ones often fit weird.

Try to get some money back though its clearly not rust free.

I guess I was thinking of another car with the nut below..It's been years since I took mine off. I think you are on the right path with the screwdriver there is a nut thing that unscrews from the top. You could try pliers too just be careful of your paint, maybe tape off the area with a few layers of masking tape
