A duct can be anything to channel air really. It can be simple or complex. Some guys have boxed in their radiators with aluminum flashing from home depot for the simple. All the way up to stuff like this out of composites

That's actual for an airplane but just so you have an idea here is the link to that site to see how they made it Cooling System

Just picture your radiator inside of that open slot and the air entering the front of the car through one side and out your hood on the other.

Ducting your radiator is a great way to increase the efficiency of your radiator and cooling system.

An added plus to this is the air no longer exits under the front of your car and this reduces aero lift on the front end of your car drastically. This is a big benefit for front wheel drive cars.

Hank that looks great. Details on the slot? What front lip/overspoiler is that?

Not a fan of the "carbon fiber", I'm thinking of re-finishing the edge with some door ding preventer stuff.

Two things to think about. As far as cooling goes, air in has to equal air out. You need to make sure that you have an adequate way of getting the hot air out. The easiest way is with an under tray. It will help create a venturi and pull the hot air out underneath. And since your problems are at highway speeds, you might want to consider filling in the gaps between the rad and the core support. That will also help force the air through the rad. I did this on the track NX with window sealing foam from Lowes.

Thanks. Not many details, really. I used the holes that where there as a template for my slots, bondo'd the sides of the slots and painted it. The lip is actually the same lip from the first picture....started life as an oem piece... Matt N. cut it and added the bent tubing. In an effort to make it more visually acceptable, I riveted on some aluminum and bondo'd it ...it took some patients. By the way, the car was sold to someone up in CT.

Another view:

I neglected to say that it only happens during the day, never ever at night. No matter the temp. Go figure.

Pretty I think you have a head gasket or water pump issue if its still doing this after a new radiator and all that.
