...Well bad news.... she started up with no knocking or ticking, and I could rev her, but then about a minute into letting her run, the radiator hose got rock hard, and then smoke started to pour out the exhaust. Took out spark plugs and steam came from cylinder #1 and I could squeeze radiator hose and make puffs of smoke... YIPPY, new HG time... Luckily I have a complet gasket set lying around unused, so I guess this weekend I'll do a HG job. Sucks, but the fluid level in radiator was perfect and no signs or leakage anywhere. I guess the start up heat coupled with deterorated 19 year old paper gasket shot it. Not even going to resurface it since it did not over heat, just an obvious leak. But she fired right up with a new fuel pump and sending unit though. But I'm trying to convince my friend to sell the engine once the headgasket is replaced and running solid, then buy an SR20VE engine. So if someone in the Houston area wants to give him a ride in their VVL equiped car please feel free to contact me. I'll pay for gas and also a good meal, I myself have only riden in one and it was not running 100% though.

UPDATE:

I got the car running great, and now I am at a cross roads with it. Do I do a restore on the cars exterior and have it looking great, or do I just sell it to someone who will appreciate it.
Key points about car

-219K on original engines (runs perfect, no knocks smoking, or ticking, mostly all highway miles
-Replaced headgasket due to leak (runs perfect still)
-Has new alternator, starter, and power steering system
-All original glass, VINs on front windsheild, side glass, rear hatch, and even T-tops, all with 00062 and all OEM Nissan
-Front seats have zero rips
-Dash has several cracks (needs to be replaced)
-Carpet has no stains or cigarette burns
- Brake system is good
-Both front control arms replaced with OEM nissan units
-Fuel tank cleaned and new fuel pump and sender installed
-New OEM Clutch Unit
-5th gear pop out kit installed at Nissan
-Aftermarket Nostalgic Prime 2 peiece wheels
-Has origial T-top shades

Bad things
-Needs Drivers side door unit due to bondo job
-Needs trim around windows replaced
-Needs T-top rubber trim to be replaced
-Needs New shocks
-Needs AC to be fixed (leaked out)

So what should I do with it???? I need to decide something in 2 weeks, otherwise I sell it as is locally to a Mexican (no joke either, they're the only ones who know about these cars down here) If someone locally wants to pick it up, shoot me a PM. I have 2 Sentra SE-Rs as well that I am working on as track only cars, this NX is never going to be a track only car, just OEM goodness as it was back in 1992.

Traded it for my G20 plus cash since he wrecked his Ducati and needed transportation ASAP. Like 3 days after I got it for him and started to work on it, he wrecked it bad, so he was out of work for 2 weeks which gave me time to make it run, but it still needed registration stickers, tires, and a new cataltyic converter, so all his money went into paying his deductible for his bike and then he still has to pay off the bike, so he basically ran out of cash to make the car like he wanted it. But I wanted to sell my G20 anyways, so as a friend I helped him out since my G20 had all new suspension and would go wherever it needed since he commutes from Downtown houston 30 miles outwards in traffic. The G20 engine and trans is in worse shape than the engine in the NX, and it had all tags up to date and practically brand new tires. So I decided to trade him since durring the time of the G20 I got a BMW as payment for a trade for some work that is an awesome daily.

Great find! I'm on my third NX reconstruction project. They're always fun. Good luck with it! My vote would be to restore it and drive it!

Oh also, I found out its not a blue interior, its just faded black... so I need a black dash, but the carpet is like a dark bluish color though. So what color interior was in the white with every option? Black or Blue? I need to order a dash next week since no local places have a B13 with a good dash. I talked to my friends that do old Toyota's like cressidas and MKIII Supras, they buy them and just make them run 100%, they said to just sell it as is with it passing emissions and driving well, no doing any body work or fixing the door.

If you have time and space I'd hang onto the NX. It actually breaks my heart when someone parts out or sends one to the unkown (unless there is a lot of rust).
