URGENT HELP PLEASE....clutch cable
How in the world do i replace this cable....my clutch cable snapped last night and i notice the cable runs to the top of the dash and not down to the pedal...i removed the diamond shape thing and to reveal my snapped cable but how do i remove the rest without taking out the dash?????

it runs through the firewall and ataches to the top of the clutch pedal. its kinda hard to get your fingers up threre if you have big hands but you should be able to feel a hook like shape at the top fo the pedal. basically push the cable from the engine compartment hole and fell with your fingers to attach the cable to the pedal.

It doesn't run up to the dash. You may be following the speedo cable if that's what you're finding.

Crawl in on your back to get a look with a flashlight, no sense in feeling up your entire under-dash for something you have not seen.

i am also wondering how in the hell do you remove the cruise control actuator thing from the fire wall it looks like it would prevent you from getting two those 2 12 mm bolts on the diamond plate thing. My clutch cable is fine but it does look to be a dam near impossible thing to do unless you have tiny Burger King hands.

^^^ LOL at " burger king hands"

Yeah...Pedronx2k is right its just like a bike brake cable, with the round peice on the end.If you look up in there you can see it.

yeah but do you all have the power package cause if you do you have part of your cruise control there blocking the way. I was able to remove one 10 mm bolt that holds it in but the other part is welded to the shock tower. It looks like 2 medium drawn 12 mm sockets might possibly squeeze in between there and remove the diamond thing holding the clutch cable to the firewall but otherwise it looks like a dam near impossible thing to do and my hands are a little on the big side but it looks like it would not be an easy thing to do. I love NXs but that design leaves a lot to be desired. Guess that is why the other Nissans like 240s and 300s use hydro clutches?

there is absolutely no need to pull the cruise control module off. i thought so too, at first, until i found a very useful write-up here on the forum.

hook a long wire or string (5 feet or so?) to the pedal end of the cable BEFORE you pull the clutch cable through to the engine bay. then you can just tie the pedal end of the new clutch cable onto the wire/string and pull that sucker right back in from the cabin.

MUCH easier than trying to fish it back into that little hole by hand. try it and see.

as for hooking that little hook back onto the clutch pedal, just be patient. i'm a small guy so i fit pretty easily. big hands and all.
