ok can i switch the wires from the parking lights to my fogs?and not burn out a fuse or anytihng?
reason i ask is, i crashed my nx and im in the process of doing the vw projector mod and want my foglights ONLY on without headlights.....and that would take like 30 seconds to do......

because of the wiring harness its not that easy.
The mod has to be done from the harness in the steering column. I have a printed out copy of the writeup at home from DC Scotty.

I does 2 things, foglights on with parking lights, and foglights on with highbeams.

I know that's for a '93. For earlier models it does have to be done in the steering column. I want to say it was a purple wire was what I was told, and you just have to make a jumper from one wire to another...but I don't know too much more info on that...sorry I can't help out more there. If you look on the old forums, I think there is a little write up with some pics for earlier models...

91/92 NX Foglight Mod
Hey, I just saw this..

Heres the info for the 91/92 foglights that I pulled from several threads:

91/92 NX Foglight Background
Well, on '91-'92 it appears that the foglights were a dealer installed option, even though there's a spot for the relay in the box by the battery and the label is in printed on the cover as well. Instead of Nissan providing them with an OEM harness and a relay, they did all this hokey sh*t with a bosch relay screwed in behind the damn strut tower, and they used wire taps at the lighting harness and the hazard switch (for illumination of the switch). And they used the switch to power the relay instead of grounding it because they didn't think things through too well. It works, but it's not the best way to do things.

Steering Column Mod
Pull the cover off the steering column, and remove the purple wire from the tap at the lighting switch harness. Put a tap in the red/blue wire that is right next to the Green/red wire, and reconnect the purple wire there. This is the parking light wire. Since the foglight switch is only powering the relay coil, the current draw is 1A or less. So adding this load to the parking light circuit will not overload the circuit.

Your Foglights will now light using the Headlamp Switch in ALL Positions but OFF; Parking Only, Low Beam & High Beam.

Notice: I am not responsible if while/after performing this mod causes damage to your body or car. I am also not responsible if applying the mod causes you to break some federal/state/local law or regulation.

This will not work because the relays are being used to control the lighting sequence. Foglamps are only activated when the headlamp switch is in the Low Beam position. Foglamps are not activated for Highbeam or Parking lamps. The method above will only deactivate your parking lights and probably mess up your console lights (which are also tied in this circuitry).

On your 91/92 NX, you can have a Foglight Only ON mod. And it should be relatively easy (I havent done this but this should work). Pull the cover off the steering column, and remove the purple wire from the tap at the lighting switch harness. Create a new tap to a 12v (+) wire (radio, cigar lighter, etc.) and reconnect the purple wire to it. I would add a 10amp inline fuse with the new tap for device safety/protection. This will provide constant 12v power to the FogLamp switch instead of power only when the parking lights circuit is activated.

Now your foglights will be controlled by the Foglamp Switch only.
Also if you pull this power from a switched 12v+ source like: the radio power line, the Foglamps Switch will only be activated with the ignition key.

My 92 Nx isn't wired like the 91-2 B13 Sentra's with the wiring for the fog in the steering column. Mine ended up being wired like the 93/4 NX2000's with it being under the hood in the relay wiring beside the battery.

Chris. How do you know that?
Have you checked for the connections at the column?
Have you checked for the Bosch Relay under the hood?

Reason Im asking is I have never found a 91/92 NX that was wired-up like a 93. And this actually makes it harder!!

The 93-94 cars are much harder to mod.. Why, you ask? Cause I have found 3 different sets of harness used in those model years. You cant just go by the wire color because the wires used has different color relay wires. You must first test the wires to determine how the foglamp relay is wired up. Then depending on which wires causes the relay turn-on the foglights, your mod will be different. I have figured how to do 2 of the 3 different wiring looms. Guess which one I have?? Yep.. the one with the 3rd wiring setup... I can get the mod to work but then my dash lights dont work when I turn-on the headlights..
