Thread: Any interest in homemade clear plastic NX lenses?

I have been playing around with these all week for my HID/H4 ( I'm still deciding ) retrofit. I am still getting some bugs worked out. I thought I would ask if anyone else would be interested in a pair since the mold is made, and there should be some left over plastic. These won't work with factory clips, you will have to use silicone to hold them in place. Does anyone like the idea?

Here is basically what mine will look like put together. I cut big hole in the rear and notched the top of the stock reflective housing (it was a tight fit to say the least ) to fit an MDX projector from Ebay. I also made a shroud from a ducting cap I picked up from Home depot and did some painting. Don't mind the dust there is Bondo dust everywhere from when I made the mold. How does $50 shipped sound

Thanks! I made those with acrylic because it is really cheap the next ones will be Lexan which should be stronger.

So I can just silicone them in the bumper? I ask this because my bumper just came from the painter and I really would like to keep it a reversible mod without damage. I was looking into the GTS covers but they had 3M like tape and holders, why I decided not to go with them.

Also there are stupid lil kids overhere I have to keep an eye on and placing/removing the GTS covers every time is also a no-no.

If it will look like it can't be taken off, that would be good enough.

They go right where the glass lenses go. The material is thinner so the thin metal retaining clips won't fit any more. Once you put silicone on them no one will be able to remove them without taking the bumper off first.

The stock ones have this weird goo around the housings. I put the whole headlight in the oven at 200*F for a few minutes. The goo softened up and I worked a screw driver around the edge and separated the old glass lens from the housing.

If you just put the clear lens on it would be reversible, but if you put in a large projector and reflective bowl like in the picture you would have to do some cutting and it wouldn't be reversible. If you could find a smaller projector and bowl you might be able to reverse it entirely. It just depends on how you want to do it.

Ah, I see now I didn't understand completely, I'm looking for a way to get rid of the two holes that catch the wind always. Higher models then the 100/Nx seem to have this

Also I was able to get almost 500 metres more per liter out of my 2.0 Celica, with the flapping headlights (model 85-88-89ish)

That was a car with questionable state of maintenance. It is about 1.18 miles per gallon.
