Third brake light not working
Hi all, I just need some help with my third brake light (the top light). Well when I bought my car, it just seemed like the bulbs were busted but when I took a look at it, bulbs arent busted but they're the wrong size. So I replaced them with the 194s, just like the small ones in the cluster and the city lights, as per the book. Still does not work. I just want to know what may have happened or the cause of the light not working. I'm not really a guy with the electrical stuff and I'm new to nissan. Its a 1991 NX2000 btw. I was thinking of just jumping the wires to one of the two main tail lamp when they get brighter. Anyone have any other input? Thanks

You might try cleaning the socket connection points. They get corroded easily and make the bulbs not work.

If i'm not mistaken the cabling goes inside the trunk together with the wiper cabling. If the Nx2000 wiper stops working and it's not the wipermotor, it usually is wiring went bad there.

I'm not sure what bulbs would be the wrong size, this would mean somebody forced them in the socket? That also could become a problem with the correct bulbs, what you need is to Volt test the sockets too.

Richard is right. Usually all 3 things go bad at once. The 3rd brake light, the wiper and the defroster. They are on one harness..they break by the hatch enterance for the wiring.

I did the volt test, there wasn't any reading from the wires going into the sockets at all. Wiper motor and rear defroster works just fine too.I did see the harness taped up at the point point where it pins up to another connector. Will try to get around to it after I figure out why my car needs a long cranking session when starting up after a few hours of being parked. Anyone have any idea?

I don't know how Nissan cabled all of the brakinglights, eg. the regular two and the third one, but there something is wrong.

For the long cranking session, that could be anything m8, I believe I did the work on the vacuum, ignition, startermotor, fuel supply, airfilter and it still cranks too long.

You might just have a air regulator/vac issue on the cold starts
