Thread: NX? Damn - slow.

No, I'm not insulting my NX. But after getting in a bone stock one after driving my *december girl* pimped out bolt-on DE from the calandar, I asked myself 'how did I fall in love with this car in the first place? It's.....so slow!'

I can't wait to VE this thing because it's slow as mole'sasses right now!

I have owned some quick cars while also owning a B13

2004 G35 (manual trans)
2003 Maxima (manual trans)
1999 BMW M3

it seemed slower, but not ridiculously 1987 Dodge Caravan slow..

Lol unless you've ever driven an automatic one, you haven't realized how slow they can be. Mine ran high 11's in the 1/8th mile stock. That'd be 18's in a 1/4 mile.

my wife has the 01 sentra SE autotragic - it is the WORST sr20 car I've EVER driven in. My roommate has the 5 speed version, and it WHOOPS the auto's ass up down and around the highway jaunt - I floor my wife's car, falls flat on its face. I'm thinking either maf or tps or tranny, but all in all it's just ****.

Mine got slower I think when I put the 3" exhaust on it ......it will be interesting going form stock to what I have in it now ...

When I get in my brother's SE-R I wonder how I fell in love with it too. It's sort of fast enough but it has no lateral grip and it feels like it's going to tip over around every corner. Then the brakes fade on me within a couple miles.

The difference between his and mine is night and day (even without the turbo).

Yeah, back when I still had my autotragic nx it ran a 16.1 quarter with intake and a glasspack...eww.

these cars were never fast, or even quick, especially by todays standards. i think the fastest they got an ser to do in the 1/4 (mag racing here) was what 15.8-16.0? and now, these cars are almost 20 yrs old, if they are stock and have 150K+ on them, they are probably 17 sec street terrors! a new honda or nissan minivan with a v6 would smoke a ser stock..lol

The magazines got them to 15.7 in the 1/4 regularly. Mailing list members got stock cars down to 15.2 with lower tire pressure and attention to detail.

When I first bought mine some 7 years ago I took it to the track and ran consistent 16.6s. My brother's car bought last year is a little bit stronger than mine was (before power mods).
