Thread: Changing steering wheel?

can I change my steering wheel from my 92 to my 91? I like the 91 better because the whole thing is a horn. The 92 has 2 stupid buttons on the sides.

My 92 has an airbag, so any careful procedures when removing the wheel?

disconnect power and go to town, from what I under stand thou there still is a chance it could go off. I've taken a couple wheels off with good airbags already and none have gone off yet.

make sure you face the airbag with themetal cage up and away from you just for the sake of safety, make sure you discharge yourself statically as static electricity can cause the bag to go off....strange my 91 has a 2button airbag wheel

I mean its a slim chance ityll go off just disconnect the battery before you unbolt the wheel. If you're pulling it as one piece ityll be easier than as both pieces. Just be careful and don't forget to reset the airbag light
Get in the car close the door , turn key to On positon , open door and press the door trigger 7 times then start the car

Yeah just disconnect the battery well before working on the car and touch metal before you work on it. You'll be fine! and you can blow it up later, its FUN

You'll need to change the stalk as well. The airbag cars have a clockspring, and all the wires are run through there. On the non airbag wheels, there's just a contact plate on the back of wheel, and a "peg" that makes the contact.

Canadian NXs must have been different. All US NXs had a driver side airbag.

but its funny that the NXen had airbags and the se-r didnt
