speedometer problems
hi

i swapt a 92 g20 auto tranny into my 93 nx2000. everything works great but the speedometer. i've swapt everything over from my new tranny and still nothing works. i've even got a 92 instrument cluster just to make it cable driven. know the other gauges dont work like gas, rpm, and temp. ive been trying to figure this out for the past few weeks and im out of ideas. if any one could help me out that would be wounderful.

thank you

Rob,
Put back your 93 NX cluster, swap the speed sensor from your old tranny into the G20 tranny and plug it up.. Everything will then work. The Speed Sensors is Instrument Cluster dependant and thats why you need your old Speed sensor & the original 93 NX cluster..

Also swap over the Tranny Plug holder strip (the metal strip that the tranny plugs are mounted) from the top of the old tranny to the G20 tranny. That strip is used for grounding by the TCU (transmission control unit) in the driver kick panel. I know it sounds strange but its true..

The 93 Auto NX transmission operation is very strange and usually requires a match between 93 NX only parts for the ECU, TCU and all electronic LSD tranny...

Im actually surprised the 92 G20 tranny actually worked (no slipping, hard shifting, etc).. Nissan changed the ECU/TCU communications signals in the 93 NX that is completely different than the 91/92 NX communication signals (arent interchangeable). But, great to see that someone actually got it to work with a G20 successfully..

Congrads..

does it have to be grounded to that only i can't just ground it to the spot that you bolt the speedometer gear to.

Nope.. Just remount the strip holder on top of the tranny and everything will ground properly.
