Well, I'm using other ''universal black'' then you do, I'm able to get Motip, which is kinda the brand in Holland. Now I'm not recommending Motip but all I can say, buy a can of that stuff and work on some place on your car that's out of sight.
You could remove a doorpanel for example, to find the original paint you can spray over to see how it compares to it. Maybe there is a better spot you can think of, but I think that's the only way to find out if the results will be satisfactory.
Don't forget to clean your testingspot throughly with cleaner and then wax it, to get as close as possible to the original colour.
When buying a can of this stuff, get the most experienced guy at the store and show your car and ask him what brand would be best. That usually saves you some time and he might be able to guess it better for you.
Btw, you need the primer and clearcoat too to see the best possible result.
And to get closer, you need to let them mix the paint for you and put that in a brandless can. Maybe a couple of bucks more or a little further driving to get it. The nozzle on that can needs to be real good, can't help you with that, some can's have good nozzles, some can's have nozzles that are too big.
Also keep in mind, the paint you will be getting has a certain grade. Overhere the best grade you can get is 1K and thats paint they use at professional paint cabins. The best grade you can get in a spray can is 2K. (I might have mixed up the 1K and 2K, and I really don't know how this works in America)
When you buy the spray cans ask what for gritpaper you need to sand the primer and ask what steps you should take for the best result. The more the better the result will be
Also keep in mind that after painting it black, the clearcoat has to be sprayed on with more care because it's thicker and easier to ruin your work with it.
