Thread: JDM Intake vs USDM Intake

During the swapping over accessories and what not we ran into something that we both know nothing about.. the usdm engine has extra vaccum lines and junk on it.. (refer to picture)



and the jdm intake...



any help is appreciated..

umm yeah, USDM has EGR and JDm don't

do i need to swap that over to the jdm one? that was really my question..

Umm, no. That is the whole reason to swap is to get rid of the egr crap.

everyone has to start somewhere right.. oh well.. just makin sure i do this right cause i don't want to have to do it again really.. i love the learning tho.. nissan's are the shsit.. welp anyway thanks for the help and i will be posting progress/questions as i go.. as far as the swap i think maybe tomorrow or tues it should be done..

But, if you swap in a JDM Sr20, how do you get it to pass emissions if you live in a city that requires it? Can it still pass the sniff test w/o EGR? And if it passes a sniff, will most inspectors overlook the fact that it isnt equipped? I always wondered this, and have never really gotten a definitive answer. I dont live in Cali, so it prolly isnt QUITE as strict where I live, but we do have smog checks w/ dyno tests.

^You bump the guy with your elbow and say........Hey, here is $100 bucks, now can you print me out a pass slip?...........Naw most JDM motors don't pass smog.......That's why Japan is so strike on the mileage of them.
