Picked up my fuel cell today as well as the last of the metal I should need to finish this thing. Bought 3/4 by 3/4 square tubing to make a cage around the fuel cell.

I have all m exhaust pieces to make the downpipe now. I just have to get the rest of the exhaust piping after I do the downpipe.

flanges, flex, y for exhaust cutout, 3" bends

Finished making my last bars and welding it up today. I need to clean it up so I can spray it yet but overall I’m happy with it. The rear is incredibly stiff with it.

I know that design is over kill and no one will want something like it unless they do the awd but I’ll redesign it and see what I can come up with to sell for those interested.

Sprayed it up with some rust oleum gloss black paint.

Ruffed up the plastic fuel pump holder as well as the bottom of the fuel cell before using JB weld. It worked really well and is held in place extremely good.

The bigger hose is of course the filler hose and the smaller one is the vent hose.

Sprayed inside the bracket with some primer and 3m rubber undercoating and then boxed it in.

Angled a piece from the bottom of the bracket to the frame rail and boxed it in.

All the rear brackets are now completely welded and good to go. Sprayed some 3m rubber undercoating on the brackets.

Don't worry about the strut hanging by the brake line. I have braided lines to replace them.

Here is my filler neck in place. You won't be able to get it positioned how it was originally but you can get it close.

A nice under shot of the filler hose, I still need to cut a hole to send the vent line in.

Look at that no more jacks holding it up.

I know originally I said you wouldn't be able to use a Gti-r fuel tank but now that the sub frame is mounted lower then thought to be earlier you probably could. The only issue is trying to locate one and getting it shipped to you which wouldn't be cheap. The NX & Gti-r fuel sending units are not interchangeable either (placing the Gti-r fuel sending unit in the NX tank). You also could modify your stock one for the drive shaft clearance but you will have to relocate your fuel pump which would be a lot of messing around in my opinion.

This is about were the fuel cell will be located. At that spot it will be roughly a 1/8 below the rear bumper. Remember to center it so there isn't more weight on one side then the other.

Started on the cage for the fuel cell.

I'm only doing a cage around the section that will be hanging below the car.

The cage will wrap around it completely once done and I will be making a access panel in the new floor to get to the tank. The only way to remove the fuel cell once finished will be from the inside through the access panel.

Had a buddy resurface my rear Gti-r rotors for me.

The fuel cell will be bolted down in 4 spots to the cage as well as surrounded by sheet metal to prevent rocks from hitting it.
