Not much for updates today. I picked up 2 3ft chunks of boxed steel which is more then enough needed for the frame rails.
4" by 2" and 1/8 thick

Cleaned up the transmission, looks a lot better now.

I'm going to be talking to some guys at a hot rod shop tomorrow about fuel cells but this is the design I will more then likely go with. I would prefer a 8 or 10 gallon but I would probably have to get one specially made to fit where I want it.
RCI 12 gallon fuel cell
Tig-Welded 5051 Aircraft Aluminum
12 Bolt 1.75 “ Fill Neck With Cap or can use as Remote Fill
# 8 AN Male Fuel Pickup
# 8 AN Male Fuel Return
# 8 AN Male Rollover Vent
Fuel Sending Unit (for use of 0 to 90 ohm Gauge)
No Foam
18.0 “ Length, 12.0 “ Width, 12.0 “ Height

I will be mounting the fuel cell under the car so in order to keep the fuel lines up as far as possible I’m going with a in tank fuel pump. TANKS Inc. gas tanks for street rods and custom cars and trucks sells a nice kit for $225. All you do is drill your hole and bolt it to the tank. Comes with gasket, fuel pump and everything else needed. They also have a couple different size fuel pumps available depending on how much fuel you need.

Nope, the fuel tank will be located behind the sub frame so all I need to do is run a filler hose from the fuel door to the tank. You can pick up hose to do this from marine shops and some race shops.

Sweet, I must say your working at almost break neck speed doing this conversion. I thought you were just going to swap in the GTiR motor and wait a while to attempt to do the awd conversion.

Ya the original plan was just to do the engine swap now and the awd conversion later after I finish some of my metal fab/welding classes but I was persuaded otherwise. The first Auto-x event for me is April 26th in my area so I need it done by then.

glad he did not trade it for that muscle car like he was going to do. its sad how fast he is doing this and its taken me months to get turbo parts lol and beating other ppl who have had lesser projects by a mile.i cant wait til this is done

I will be over this evening to help put the clutch in and get the engine back in the bay. Give me a call when you are at home.
