heating precaution (DET nx)
might be going DET soon (MAYBE) but i want to know how many people have went top mount on a nX and not had issues. what did you guys do to prevent over heating?? the only reason i am going top mount is because its winter and my needle bearly gets pass the C and line mark cause of the water wetter. so i kind of wanted to go the quick way out and go top mount for the winter and worry about going front mount in the spring cause i will have a couple of months to save money and get a good setup.....

hood scoop would probably be the best thing to do but im no body man and i dont want to jack my hood up... do they sell hoods for our cars that have vents for top mounts??? pics and suggestion are apreciated

No but you won't have any issues at all going top mount and not even touching your hood.

and yours^ been here long enough to get the search BS treatment. i know about the hood scoop theres other ways im sure. nobody said search when it came down to scootys rust thread or the break pad thread which are basic things so i dont want to hear it...

thanks chris. thats one for being fine without touching my hood

Water wetter does NOT protect against the water freezing. If I were you I would go with a 50/50 coolant/water mix. Or read the bottle, I believe the provide differing amounts to dilute it with coolant to gain some freeze protection.

I think it might get too cold for Water Wetter in Maryland though...

I don't know where you got the idea that going top mount can cause overheating. heat soak maybe, but not overheating. 2 different things.

the overheating issue that people get on the NX is when the air flow to the radiator gets block even more than it already is.

about Scotty's rust thread, i haven't found 1 straight 100% answer for it. everyone does it different and alot of people don't post it until some ask about it.

like I said before, if you don't plan on going front mount get a hood scoop. if you plan on going front mount, the top mount will be okay until you have enough $$ and time to go front mount. the cold weather and thermoblocks should help with the heat soak, but i don't think you even know what heat soak is

IIRC, you've ask me this question in person before and I gave you a answer. I believe you also ask ralph and joel, they pretty much said the same thing. how would you feel if 1 guy ask the same question over and over again?

Not trying to flame or get on someone bad side here, just pointing something out.
