Also, during the late 60s and early 70s, the Yankees were second division while the Sox lead the league. Late 70s was when the Yanks made a comeback with the Boston Massacre.
Yanks were behind 14.5 games, they had a winning streak and when they faced the Sox in the Series, they were 4 games behind. They won 4 straight games 15-3, 13-2, 7-0 & 7-4. The 3rd game was a shutout.
