Getting EGT Reading

lol I'm sure it does, but I asked here first since there's a specific nismotronic sub category to store the information presented during discussion. That would get lost on fb eventually

EGT-K linear thermocouple amplifier 1-, 2- or 4- channels

Had a chance to talk to John. He said everything I was doing seemed to be correct and dropped this little bit of info on me........

"At this point I don't think you are doing anything wrong at all; I think the EGT temp sensor input just might not be enabled in the firmware since it was designed around a FED ECU.
I believe the only active egrT input is in the sr20det s13 firmware; which can't be used on the b13 ecu.
Unfortunately, it was never implemented and I doubt that Dave is going to add that in anytime soon because it would require a good bit of firmware changes.
The ADC box is likely your best bet at this point.
Sorry for the confusion!"

So unfortunately it seems like the only guys who can take advantage of the EGT plug on the harness is the s13 guys, not the b13 guys. This is why I couldnt get it to work. I knew I was doing everything correctly.

The EGR temp input is not supported by the B13 ECU hardware. It is not a firmware issue as that is the same for all ECUs. You can use an ADC box analog input for EGT, provided your EGT sensor has a 0-5V output.

Well my point in using the egt plug was to save the adc inputs for other things since they are limited....but yeah I didn't realize there was no support for the b13 ecu for the egt input on the Ecu (I have a CAL emissions ecu that had egt sensor). All I had uncovered in my research is the Ecu had to oringally support an egt sensor like my CAL ecu did and it should work. Didnt realize that didn't include the b13 ecus =/

I sent John an email on this so hopefully he can add logging for the EGR temp input which will display the voltage on that input regardless of ECU hardware or input settings. That analog input is available for logging on all ECUs, so if the ECU hardware supports it, the voltage reading will display correctly.

Right on. Yeah I have the suggested GM sensor plugged directly to the egt plug on my 92 Sentra. Enabled the IAT in the software using that as my source and the IAT reading over on the data list stays at the default. I'm assuming that's the value I should be seeing change when enabling the use of the IAT sensor at that plug source, correct? So what you are saying is something needs updated software side to able to read said signal for the b13 Ecu? I'm just trying to understand what exactly would need done to use it

Yes

No, the problem is that not all ECUs have the hardware installed to enable the EGR temp input. (I don't know which ECUs do or do not have the hardware because I don't have all of the ECUs). If you enable the IAT sensor and set the INPUT to EGR TEMP INPUT, the IAT reading on the logging Data Screen will show a temperature based on the EGR temp input voltage and the IAT CONVERSION TABLE. If the ECU hardware doesn't support the EGR temp input, that value won't change. I just suggested to John that he could log the EGR temp input voltage directly without having to enable the IAT sensor.

Oh ok, so even if I have a CAL emissions that used a egt sensor From factory that doesn't actually mean that the Ecu is compatible? When I removed my egt unlike FED ecus it threw a code for it so I know it has the input and it's the Ecu I chipped with nemu

If that's the case, your ECU should support the EGR temp input. What are you using for an EGT sensor?
