Getting EGT Reading
Quick question, new to nismotronics and had a question about getting egt and/or intake temp readings. First of I had a CAL emissions ecu chipped so I know I have the input and I also imagine I can't use the oem egt sensor so my question is, is there a sensor I can plug into the original egt probe plug on the harness to get temp readings to the Ecu that nismotronics can Display? I assume it's possible but I'm not sure how to go about it using the oem harness plug....

92 Sentra SER manual Ecu , CAL emissions. I was lookin at the GM sensor on nismotronic website for the intake temp, which I assume is for the exact thing I'm talking about in using the original egt plug on the harness to get intake air temps for map?.... however I'm talking about a similar sensor I can use in an exhaust manifold for those temps. That sensor being plastic would melt obviously, and I'm seeing similar sensors on rockauto say for a 90 corvette that's all brass except for the plug which still might melt?

I was hoping for something like those Type K probes aftermarket gauges use, and 1/8 npt, but one I could hook directly to the oem egt plug on the harness so I didn't need to take up an input on the breakout box since my Ecu has the egt input

Is this what your looking for? If you use the EGT connector, where are you going to wire, your intake air sensor?

I still have my oringal egt sensor (like this one in the link I assume is the same) but I didn't think that gave values that could be converted to a temp, I though it was just like a yes/no, open/closed type of value?

I'm still running my MAF setup, havnt converted to map yet so I'm not using intake air temp yet

Take a meter, check continuity between leads, while heating it with a lighter. If, the value changes while heating it can be used.

I'll check that out, but I know these do..... so theoretically I could use this type of sensor to that plug and get temp reading?

If, you put it in the breakout box it will work. But, the OEM is going to read different. Different probles use different metals to give different resistance to provide temp. The aftermarket one will not read like the OEM.

Well I have the oem one, if that one would work than I'd Def use that instead. I was just curious if anyone tried it and knows of a metal sensor that can be attached to the oem plug for use in an exhaust manifold similar to, i assume, how the GM works for the intake temps

To use that input in the ECU, you will need OEM intake air sensor.
