Thread: weather effecting AFR

So about twice a year I have to adjust my afr because it is either too rich or too lean .. currently it's been getting leaner so I richend it up but come winter I'll prob have to lean it out again..

Late at night when the air is cool or early in the am it will be a tad rich but when it gets hot, like mid 80s to 100 it's lean again.. an it's not just idle or cruise but wot also..

Is this something the wideband/o2 sensor should be fixing? Assuming not completely due to higher load leaning.. s

Even tho I still run Maf I do have iat an map sensors.. maybe i could use the Iat to compensate

From my experience I go a tad lean in the cold and a tad rich is the hot weather.

Your wbo2 should be able to compensate for crusing and idle but probably not wot or acceleration. This has alot to do with your closed loop parameters.
You could enable your closed loop under all parameters and adjust your target afr table accordingly. However I remember John or dave not advising to do this. I think it was because in case of your o2 sensor failing, however it would be nice to hear there opinion on if the ecu and software can handle this job safely. Lots of modern ecu's utilize closed loop wot.

With all of that being said, when I start new tunes for people I will use closed loop at wot to get a rough estimate to dial in the fuel map and work in open loop from there.

When using maf as load source the iat sensor is not able to trim the fuel. It would be really nice if it could but right now that is only able to happen if map is the load source.

iat fuel trimming while using maf load would be awsome.

I know lynch is on MAF but your using MAP.

Could you just increase the IAT enrichment numbers to help solve this issue? I thought using the IAT with the MAP setup solves this issue??

Also if your talking about a/f numbers being off some due to weather and your in a closed loop area than can't you adjust the speed of how fast the sensor data is read? Under wideband closed loop settings
