sr20det tune
hello all i own a starlet kp60 with sr20det
i am about to use a nismotronic set up with map conversion
the tune is going to be on road how can i detect knocking or how can i tune it to the road safely?

Hello Monder, what an excellent choice you've made to go with the Nismotronic Speed Density solution.

The tune is going to be on road how can i detect knocking

All factory SR20 engines come equipped with a knock sensor. If you are unsure about detecting knock, maybe leave the ignition maps stock. You can use standard speed density compatible SR20DET ignition maps, and just leave the rest up to the knock sensor(bad gas or warm charge air scenarios)

or how can i tune it to the road safely?

To road tune safely, I recommend getting a co-driver. Or did you mean safe for the engine? In whatever case, getting a wideband installed is your #1 priority. There are Speed Density basetunes that work perfectly for a bone stock SR20DET, but the second you start making upgrades, (Turbo, Intake, Exhaust, Cams etc.), you need to tune your maps accordingly. Having wideband feedback will let you know if you're running dangerously lean in some parts of the map, or if you're wasting excessive fuel just cruising around.

Also, read, read, read the manual for Nismotronic, and do post up the complete specs of your engine. We can point you to what basetune you should start from if we know your specific setup.

safe for the engine i mean :P
the upgrades to the engine is a twin scroll turbo from evo 8, 1000cc id injectors, im going to use a 70mm throttle body and sr20de p10 cams
i already have a aem wideband and i going to install a egt to the adc inputs

here is the setup now

how much boost you think im safe the internals for this years is stock . the next year is planned for forged

thanks a lot my friend for your good words...
yeah i also i think its the best suited and the cheapest conversion for sr20det
the specs for now its stock internals, turbo td05g from evo twin scroll , throttle body 70mm , sr20de (p10) cams
the next year i am planing to go forged internals , for this year how much boost can i run i also live in greece and we are having 95ron base fuel

here is a photo from the current setup

That is great, having wideband feedback straight into the ECU is the most important mod in my opinion.

However, regarding the exhaust gas temp sensor, you cannot wire it directly into a ADC input. An egt outputs 41 µV/°C, which is way to low for the resolution in the ADC breakout box. You need to connect the egt to a step up converter, that makes it output 0-5V instead of the tiny voltage. Maybe you were aware of this already?

There is a basetune named "SR20DET RT (3bar 810cc UEGO).tcd" in the startup calibrations folder (NismoTronicSA DEMO Download). This tune is made for a Speed density DET with 810cc injectors. You could easily scale it up to 1000cc injectors and go from there.

That I cannot answer properly. You mean safely for just 1 year? or safely for the whole lifetime of the engine? Most people go by a "increase it until it blows up"-method, and then upgrade/back it off a few psi. There are surely some forum posts floating around regarding how much boost you can run, try searching around

thanks a lot for your feedback . how can install properly the egt to the ecu and monitoring then from the tunerview?

You need a extra breakout board to handle the 0-5V step-up conversion, for example, a quick ebay search on "Thermocouple to voltage converter" will get you what you need. Should be about 20$ with free shipping from China.

I would personally get one of these aswell, but I've already populated all 4 ADC inputs on my NEMU

i'll use it for safety reason because when you drift you don't have the airflow that you need , also for tuning reasons
at the tunerview android tablet i have the wideband the egt the map ect... im very excited with my choise
i alsoo found from a friend here in greece sard 800cc side feed injectors . what do u recomend to buy new ones id's or use them?
