Final Ignition Value
I don't see where to find this in the firmware. Can anyone provide a screenshot that shows clearly where this can be found? Trying to set timing on my VE..

i usually set the idle area to 15 in the map then goto the Setup tab then Extras -> Diagnostics then hit the Set idle/timing mode check box, tab off, then hit upload. then i set the dist timing with a light to 15 an fuck with the idle screw if i need to, then uncheck the box, tab off and upload again.

also make sure its warmed up so its not using cold ect timing tables

Are you calling the "table" the map?

Final IGN is just the sum of the IGN Map Value ± the Trim values. IGN Map Value comes from the IGNITION TABLE when throttle is open or from the TPS CLOSED TIMING TABLE (on the Idle tab) when the throttle is closed.

When Set Idle/Timing Mode is enabled (SETUP/DIAGNOSTICS tab), IGN Map Value is set to the BASE IDLE IGNITION value and all trims are ignored.

Do you adjust the idle screw for the iacv % or just until you have a steady 15 degree timing?

If you get a chance, can you take a screen shot, put it in MS Paint and circle the numbers and show me exactly what your talking about?

From the NEMU SA software click on Logging ---> Data Screen and under data screen you will find that a window will pop up. Under the Ignition section or at the top inbetween Battery and Target Idle you will find the Final IGN row and the ignition value will display there.

hmm, are VE tunes on Ntronic usually 15* or 5* as base idle timing? I was reading stock VE ECU wants 5*. Also, w/the distributor screw in the middle it's a lot closer to 5*. 15* requires a lot of advancement.

Anyone w/a VE and Ntronic can confirm?

It wouldn't matter if you "sync" the timing at 5, 15 or 30 degrees .. it would still put the dizzy in the same position.

Reason being is the ECU is telling the dizzy what timing value it wants .. once you sync it at one position ALL others should match.

When the ECU asks for 5* the timing light should show 5* at the crank pulley. .. if the ECU asks for 30* then the timing light should show 30* at the crank pulley. This is ALL WITHOUT moving the dizzy.

Now, when it comes to what ignition timing you should run as your base, that is completely up to you. Some cars will need the base idle timing advanced to say 20-22 degrees with big cams/intake manifolds and injectors and others will like right around 10-15 degrees in stock form. Honestly, put it where your car idles and performs the best
