Thread: Direct Wideband not connecting

Got everything setup but the Direct Wideband is not working. I have 2 different com ports and it does not connect to either. I select the Connect Wideband button and nothing happens. I go into the settings menu and it says Innovate but does not list a com port. So i select my com port and still nothing. If i go into the RT version it works fine as i used it before to calibrate the ADC1 input.

Any ideas?

If you are running it through the ADC input, process is fairly simple

Setup (tab) > Sensors on the left menu > Wideband Setup

There should be 4 options

1) Input > Choose ADC1,2,3, etc or O2 if it's wired throught the original factory O2
2) Type > CHoose which type of wideband you have
3) Filter > Chooses how often the readings are updated or averaged (this can be left from whats picked)
4) Offset > Used to calibrate the offset to match what you are seeing in your gauge (this can be left from what is picked)

Once this is all setup Go into Tools > Settings > DIrect Wideband and Choose which wideband you are using

Once this is done, once you initiate which gauge setup (vertical, needle, etc), right click on the gauge > Sensors > Air Fuel Ratio

That should get you setup! Read through the help menu as there is a startup video which explains a bunch!

I will try this method !
But why its not read from adc1 input if i set in gauge signal from adc1 ? My Innovate signal wire connected to adc1 port.

The wideband logged through the ADCx input, set to ADCx, is shown in the AFR gauge/data. This is all done in the Setup tab, nothing needs to be done in Settings/Nemu ADC or Wideband setup.

Direct wideband is for USB connected wideband and is separate.

You do NOT have to go into the SETTINGS window to set to direct wideband if you are wiring it into the ADC box.

Simply go to the SETUP tab and setup your wideband to the port you have it on the NEMU box and the select the wideband type.

I haven't changed the direct wideband setup code, but I will go over it with my LC1 to see if there is an issue with it.

BUT, I would highly suggest just wiring it through the ADC1 input and then simply use logworks to monitor the AFR and then setup the AFR offset accordingly.

After you do that, you shouldn't have to go direct through the software .. as the ADC1 input will always be logged and written to the rom to be used with closed loop AFR targets!

Also, please note that the AFR gauge item will only update with the engine running!

The O2 value updates every engine cycle, so with the engine off it will not update.

I have it setup through the ADC input and it is working just fine. But as I noticed in the RT version is that there is a slight difference in readings between the actual and the ADC input. I only use the direct when "calibrating" the ADC input, after that I do not use it. I have a USB to serial connected to the WB and it will connect and read in the RT version but not in the SA version. I tried this with the car running and with the just the IGN on. I like to do a few logs with both connected to make sure it is reading correctly throughout the whole range before trusting the ADC. In my case it is reading slightly lean through the ADC so at worst i am slightly rich.

I will try it again today after restarting the computer and with the car running.

I understand exactly what you are trying to do with it, that is why I suggested to open up LogWorks and do a direct wideband log in their OEM program and compare from that.

I will absolutely take a look at this when I get a chance, but I can't promise it will be anytime in the very near future.

I figured you understood, but some of the other posts did not. Life is digging into my SR20 time lately but i should have time this week. I was looking for the software but i must not have installed it, luckily i remember where i packed it since we are in the process of moving.

Can you go through the steps in hooking the AEM UEGO via DIRECT wideband (I have the old ST verision or whatever hahahaha)

I originally had the wrong wire off the AEM connected to the laptop. Which was the narrow band wire. Which did work only when selecting "O2 Sensor"
I now have the correct wire (5v) connected to the laptop. and when selecting direct wideband logging, nothing shows

Also, when I connect the laptop to ecu, the air fuel gauge display shuts off lol ????

I am connecting via serial to USB to laptop and am connecting to the right port.
