Hello from S Carolina!
Joining this group to further my knowledge of the SR20VE/VVL. Currently building a oval track racer, 1993 NX2000 w a 5 spd. I'm looking for info to obtain the SR20ve/vvl for an engine swap. I see numerous engines that come out of AT cars on line at Ebay. Can the harness and ECU from an AT car be utilized for a 5 spd setup?:???:

Use your existing harness and a tuneable ECU.

All SR20VE are attached to a boring CVT transmission.

How would the existing harness work when it would not have the pigtails for the vvl engine?

SR20 = SR20

Only a few sensor differ on the VE engine. I think the Coolant Temperature Sensor (CTS) is the OBD1 style on harnesses over here. Meaning if you have an OBD2 harness, I think the CTS is different than what the VE has. You could probably swap the sensor over into the VE engine. The VVL solenoids need to be wired separately and the distributor from your current DE engine should be used and modified to fit the VE engine. The DE ECU can be used and the engine will run and idle and drive but it will be very rich and not optimal for the air fuel ratios needed for the VE engine along with the change in compression ratio.

There are more people that have done the swap that could read this and reply and even say what I said was wrong and that would be super helpful. Another thing to do is to read the manifesto and search.
