Hello from Albuquerque, new with a VE p10
Hey everyone, I am new here and am very excited to have found such an awesome forum. I am a teacher in Albuquerque, NM. Cars are my passion, my stable currently consists of: 2011 Subaru WRX hatch premium, 2001 Honda Prelude 5 speed base, and of course my sr20ve swapped p10. My grandpa, who passed away a year and a half ago, purchased my Infiniti G20 brand new in 1992. He special ordered it exactly how he wanted, BASE model. No options and 5 speed, perfect. It was garage kept its entire life and only has 88k original miles today. Being in a garage in the southwest it obviously has ZERO rust of any sort.
Now on to the good part, the swap. When my grandpa passed away my grandma wanted me to sell my grandpa's car immediately to clear up space and I think it was her way of grieving. I luckily have a young friend who is very passionate about cars himself. I sold him the car for 1000 bucks but only if he agreed to sell it back to me for an equally good deal if he ever wanted to get rid of it. It needed a clutch and the original sr20 had low compression in cyl 3. Well in the year he owned it, he put in a new Exedy clutch, and swapped in a JDM sr20ve with roughly 50k miles and perfect compression. It is tuned with a nismotronic chip on the de ecu, and it has an SSAC header. He kept the original ps and ac so the car is quite comfortable. Anyways, he is in the Army and is getting relocated in the near future so he sold it back to me for 1500 a few weeks ago what a wonderful day! Since then I have slowly just been cleaning it up and fixing little things here and there, but overall he did an excellent job with the swap and pretty much drives like it came from the factory. And I gotta say, the extra 47 horsepower are exactly what the car needed!
My best friend just drove out to Denver to pick up a redtop swapped b13 se-r so he is slowly convincing me to boost the VE. Before I do that though, I will be replacing the springs and struts all around and will be lowering the p10 on tein s techs with kyb struts, I just cant take the stock massive wheel gap. Also, I have a grille from a 96 p10 that I need to paint match and install as well. Anyways, I know I made a very long story short but hopefully someone was able to appreciate it! I look forward to becoming a part of this community.
