You need to consider a higher flowing fuel pump, stronger clutch/pp setup, likely a front-mount intercooler setup, and some intake/exhaust work. If you don't get the stock ECU, and decide to go with a more traditional ECU setup, you'll need to budget for that too.

Yeahh I'll be good with the stock engine, it's quick enough lol not exactly looking for a hot rod...yet.

In the mean time, though, I might as well run the current engine into the ground, right? It can't damage any other components. And the knock should get worse and worse (it's not even that bad right now) so I should be able to tell when I need to stop driving it so not to be left stranded. Am I right?

Keep oil in it and be nice to it until you have a motor ready to go in. Then do your best to self extract the rod, aka blow a hole in the block.

You pull it prices on an sr20 is about 150 around here. And if you wait for 50% off days it's less than a hundo.
