When the spring pops out of the disk it could have that same effect
This was my first thought. You mentioned going thru a few trannies...on this car? If the trans has been swapped, it's possible an alignment pin got left out of the case...which can also cause a spring to pop out of the disk.
Well, not in this car, The tranny was only replaced once, because I bought it with a bad tranny and swapped it with one I had laying around. But this was done almost 4 years ago, I would think if it was an alignment pin, something would have gone wrong awhile back.. But I am open to the idea that this may be the problem, honestly would hope it is, because it would be alot cheaper to buy a new clutch than a whole new tranny.
Do you think you could explain the symptoms of this clutch spring issue, so I can see which parts of my issue actually correlate with this potential culprit. Thanks
