New guy from TN
Hello everyone. I'm here to gain as much info on cars like the one I bought. I picked up a '96 200SX SE that had some light damage to the front end. I just grabbed some replacement parts from a local salvage yard today for it & just need to get them painted. I'm sure I'll be starting a thread or 2 trying to solve some problems with it, so you have been warned.

I would like to post a new thread to get some answers for a wiring problem that I'm having. But since it appears I don't have that privilege yet, I'll toss it out here just to get the ball rolling. This car has some damage from a previous owner. They told me that the lights didn't function properly. Heck, they only told me that the front park lights come on when you hit the brakes. When I was able to check it out at home, it turns out that when the park/headlights were on, the rear tail lights come on, & also the 3rd brake light. Then when I push the brake pedal, all 3 of the rear lights get just a tiny bit brighter. I would suspect that I could spend time tracing wires back to the switch, but does anyone else have any ideas that I might try before wasting a week's time on chasing wires? The worst case scenario would be to have to rewire the entire circuits & that is more time consuming right now than I want to admit. The car did have an aftermarket security system & I was hoping that the installers may have botched something up, but removing that system just prevented the lights from flashing when I open the doors.

As for the car itself, here is a picture of the car in it's current starting point. The front end damage can be covered with a replacement fender & bumper cover. I have both of those. I was lucky enough to find what I needed at a local salvage yard yesterday. I lucked upon a factory rear spoiler that I can use on mine.

So, that problem I was having with my tail lights acting weird turned out to be just a bulb that had both contacts melted together. I replaced the bulbs in the rear and the lights work like they should. I happened to get lucky & found the answer here, but I didn't want to revive a zombie thread.
