New guy from Atlanta
Whats up everyone, new guy here. Got my first 240 a few months ago, it's my first import/turbo car. I have always done sport bikes and V8s, work at a motorcycle shop. We race a good bit and go to the drag strip also. But anyways I have a 90 240sx hatch came with a rebuilt SR20Det, ARP head studs, rocker arm stoppers, HKS BOV, CX Racing FMIC, cheap coilovers, short shifter, battery relocated to hatch, and I think thats about it. That ran a 15.017 on 7PSI the first time I took it to the track. Since I got it I have swapped in a J30 VLSD, Walbro 255 pump, manual boost controller, LC2 wideband, S14 seats, and fixed lot of small issues that came up with me daily driving it. Well I took it back to the track in Nov and first run was a 13.979 @99.76mph 2.2 60ft, then the clutch slipped on next run and I called it a night. Put a 6 puck and a ACT streetlite flywhell in since then and thats where I'm at now. I have lots of plans for more upgrades and will continue to go to the track as much as possible with it.

Here is a video from the 13.979 run from my gopro.

and a few pics of my car

Welcome @Boosted_S13, I'm in the process of approving your post and for whatever reason it doesn't want to apply. I'm going to work on it to see what I can do. Hang tight.

Nice S13. My best S13 pass was a 12.2s run on street tires. Consider removing the rocker arm stoppers?

Edit: There we go, I just needed to post in the thread to get it out of its funk.

Yea I got all of the PMs from you guys trying to approve it lol. But why would I take the stoppers off? I thought that would be good incase I hit the rev limiter.

But my goal for this one is 11s in full street trim. Thanks, I wasn't really wanting a hatch when I bought this one, I would have prefered a S14 or a S13 coupe. But it looked nice and price was decent so I couldn't say no. I should have my 5 lug swap and rims on soon so it will look better.

Because they don't do anything until you over-rev the engine to the point where the rocker wants to fly around inside the valve cover. And it's better to have a rocker fly off and break, than to have them held in place and wind up with bent valves.

In case you hit the rev limiter without them, you may spit a shim out into the oil pan or the rocker gets kicked off.

If you hit the rev limiter with the rocker arm stoppers, it can stick a valve into your piston because the rocker could not move out of the way and cause a lot more horrific stuff to the engine. The lesser of two evils is to not use the rocker arm stoppers and save the rest of the engine internals.

Well I see that I need to be removing those rocker arm stoppers then. I dont see myself hitting the rev limiter either way so I should be good. If they cause that much damage why in the hell does anyone install them to begin with. They were on the motor when I bought the car.

And most people don't plan on getting in a car accident every day.

Are you familiar with the term 'money shift'? Imagine you've wound it out to the top of 3rd gear, and go to bang 4th, but you get 2nd instead. There's your money shift, and there's your over-rev.

Very nice S13. Welcome to the forum and thanks for posting the pics and vids!

I had a '92 hatch setup for road racing for several years and loved it.

After selling it, I put the S13 SR engine in my S14 and it's a blast.

Just got back from an Atlanta HPDE. Sebring will be in a few weeks. It looks like we have several similar mods. I'm still learning the S14 and making small changes before each event.
