"Hey There" and "My Project"
Hi, my name's Linazazel, and I just picked up a '94 Sentra XE 2-Door manual with a GA16DE. My first car was a '94 Sentra GXE 4-door auto and I loved every second of driving that thing. The only reason I don't still have it is an unfortunate crash.
Anyway, I've had a number of cars since then, my favorite probably being a '97 Infiniti J30 in pristine condition, but there's just nothing like a B13. So the other day, I saw this poor, lonely, mistreated and abused Sentra on Craigslist for $1000 obo (talked him down to $650) and I decided I needed to simultaneously save it, live my dream of B13 ownership once again, and learn to work on cars.
This is the first car I've ever worked on, and I plan to completely restore and/or improve it in every way. I'm starting with the 1.6, but I hope to do an engine swap someday soon and I've already done a bit of work on it.
So far, I've done the following (and I know it's not much, but seriously, this is the first time I've ever turned a wrench, and I'm doing all this myself with a box of tools from Harbor Freight):
- Brake Lights were stuck on. Attached a nut and bolt to the brake pedal to make contact with the brake switch.
- Picked up the missing glovebox cover, cigarette lighter, and front ash tray from a junkyard (not pictured)
- Replaced brake pads and rotors in the front
- New tires all around (will eventually upgrade to 15"s)
- New wiper blades, also repainted the wiper arms (went from gray and rust to black) (shown in the last picture)
I've also picked up a lot of other parts from junkyards such as radiator fans (mine have bad bearings), sunshades and a replacement hvac unit (mine recirc control is broken). So far everything is going great, and I plan to just go step by step until this thing looks brand new. I have a large file of basically every change I want to make to the car but I won't list that here. There's a lot to be done with it as it's got a good deal of rust and is missing almost all the weatherstripping and seals so it fills full of water when it rains (especially the back seat and trunk).
So, I just thought I'd introduce myself. I've wanted to be on this forum for a long time! Here's a few pictures of it. No one else I know thinks it's pretty. :L
