New guy to the forum but been in the car game for quite some time.

Current Ride is a 2011 Mitsu Evo X GSR but been looking to get back into a nissan since I just sold my Altima SE-R last month and got rid of my 240 about two years ago. Owned a few b15's but never a b13/b14 which is what I want to get into pretty soon.

I have lurked these forums for awhile on and off but never bothered to register until now.

Guess I'll ask a quick question while I am here...I was thinking of picking up a local 96 b14 se-r and found a VVL for a decent price. I know the swap is common but how hard would getting the A/C to function be...I know silly concern but it get's pretty damn hot around here...

Welcome, I suggest you do some reading in the mainfiesto. http://www.sr20-forum.com/global-stickies/57272-sr20-forum-manifesto-faq.html

Getting the AC to work is the same as a stock SE-R.

The AC is plug and play, these fwd sr20 cars are very easy to work on and get parts for.

Thanks, I have decided on two b14's that are somewhat local...seems like all the deals in the southwest don't exist or last long....

96 se-r all stock, has the paint fading issue, window wont roll down...clean body and interior, driveable and would pass inspection... and only has 95,000 original miles

95 SE model with blue bird swap, jwt ecu, stock t28....Mainly just needs paint...2500$ has about 170k..

So my question is... a sr20det is probably 1000-1500$ ? I am almost tempted to pick up the SE just to save time and money instead of doing everything from bone stock...

Thoughts or suggestions? Wondering whats everyones typical swap is costing if you do all the labor.....I assume a shop would want 3-4k easily with parts and labor.

It's not what the swap will cost you, it's about what your end goals are for the car.

Alex_se_r is correct.
Sentraga is correct too.
I suggest you make a list and check it twice on what you want to do to the car.
Then slowly start gathering what chu need.

By the way, welcome!

Welcome...where are you located? B13>B14 but are much harder to find...but if I had to chose from those you listed, I would pick the cheaper, cleaner one...and window regulators are gravy to fix.

What are your hp goals?

Eventually I just want it to be a RELIABLE, mean street/track car. Realistically I will be easily satisfied with anything 300whp+.....But we always get the itch for more don't we? Would love to achieve 350-400whp+ but this would take some extended time and money...

I just purchased the 96 se-r last night...The body is as clean as can be, needs an idler pulley, head gasket, compressor for A/C...Got a great deal on it and its basically a one owner car, 95k mileage. The interior lights kept dimming in and out but I believe its the battery cause we had to boost it before we left the sellers place.

My next two moves could be possibly these just cause they are local but soon I will be whoring the parts section

Neo VVL motor 750$ - JDM Nissan NEO SR20DE VVL Engine Sentra SE-R

Not sure if this is the legit parts...Avenir turbo setup... SR20 Turbo SE-R
