New to the Nissan world
Hello my name is Ryan, I just picked up a 92 sentra se-r. Always wanted one and now I have one. It is by no means nice and while it did run when I got it now it doesn't but I'll go into that in the tech section. Have been a technician for both Toyota and Honda for a few years now so I know a lot about working on those but a little on Nissans lol Once I get to an actual computer I'll post up pictures of the sentra. Just know it is far from pretty and more rust then anything else haha

Thanks, now I just have to figure what's wrong with this car lol. it'll start up rough, if I hold the gas I can get it to about 3k rpms but then it slowly goes back down no matter how much gas I give it then dies. I know it's getting gas but I can't figure out what is going on. have tried unplugging the maf and no change, unplugged o2 and no change, no CEL on, cleaned the maf and no change. if anyone has any ideas that would be great, like I said it ran great when I picked it up, then would only run good over 3k rpms now doesn't run at all

The car sat for maybe a week, I posted picture but they are awaiting approval since I am new. I'm going to order basically a tune up kit monday from Napa since I work at a Honda dealer so we get everything at whole sale price. I can't imagine it being any of the regular maintenance items since it only sat for a week and I filled the tank up the day I got it. But it'll be cheap for me to try a tune up so thats the next step, though I heard it's going to be -15 on Tuesday here.

Ryan - Welcome to our home...

Ok - lets get started. It's great that you have the Honda & Toyota experience to work from. Not having a MIL to start off of can definitely makes thing challenging.

Do you have access to a Nissan compatible scanner?
->If so, what one?

Do you have access to a fuel pressure gauge?

Is the car 100% completely stock?

Mileage?

If you prime the fuel pump several times will it start?

What spark plugs are in it (Bosch, NGK, Denso)?

Can't wait to see pics... and one of the engine bay really help me.

Thanks

The car is 100% stock has 167k miles on it. I have a MODIS but I can say I have never tried it on obd1 cars, but I'll test that out and see if I can pull any dtc's. I do have a fuel pressure gauge and I will try that and the priming 3 times thing in the morning. I did find it kind of odd when I was checking out the fuel pump earlier that the upper rear seat screws and the fuel pump access screws despite being very rusted came out really easy so I'll look into that

Ok so after trying to prime the pump a few times before starting the car it seemed to do a lot better, would still be a rough idle but would run longer and the second I would take my foot off the gas it would die. I dont have my fuel pressure gauge here it's at work and we are closed today so I will check that out monday, but seems like I might need to look for a new fuel pump, the filter is new so I know its not clogged but and a few bucks I might as well replace it also just to try an cover my basis.
