If your manually turn the crank clockwise, you will want the mark on the crank pulley to be at TDC or 0 and the colored timing chain marks to be over the dot on the sprockets.

At the bottom of page 2 there is a great picture of what you are looking for.

I will take some photos.in the next 2 days (car is not at my house/work).

It has fuel.
New fuel pump
New filter
Fuel pressure regulator was off a running car but have tried another anyway.
Fuel lines have been double checked including the return line.

Moving on, compression is 130 yes, but its even. Pistons are 8.5:1 and a relatively thick metal multi headgasket.

Verify fuel hoses at fuel pump are correct.

still thinking it is an IACV air hose to the intake.

This idle air hose, it goes from intake pipe (between maf and turbo) to the bottom/back of the intake manifold? About 3/8 size? If so then yes thats connected

This is at TDC? Did you verify that #1 is mechanically at TDC? using a screw driver or something similar? Making sure the crank did not separate.

Edit: Can you take a picture from straight on so we can see both sprockets and where the dots are? It looks close to me from that picture. dont worry about the slack, the exhaust cam may have over rotated, go back around again and go very slow up to TDC to keep tension.

Re: New from Aus seeking help.
Fixed the timing. With a combination of nissan service manual and some internet diagrams.
Alas, now it isnt firing at all. Doesnt appear to be getting fuel.
Surprising thing is that i didnt touch anything to do with fuel today.

Re: New from Aus seeking help.
Update: still need help

The injectors are not firing. I have pulled out the rail, and the fuel lines to the rail; its getting fuel but injectors arent doing anything.

I have done the 9v battery test, all injectors click.

I swapped the ecu and ecu-loom and still nothing. The new loom was checked for continuity to the 4 injector positives.
