Hi All

I own a JDM imported 92 Sunny GTS. She rocks the 4-door B13 chassis with a SR18DE that redlines at 7500rpm and supposedly rocks about 140hp. It has about 70k original miles and goes really well. It's pretty much the same to the USA B13 SE-R except for the smaller engine and Right Hand Drive.

I've just installed all four Prothane engine and trans mounts (what a sh!t job) due to the original rubber ones being shot. Man it vibrates like hell now.

Anyway I've been lurking this forum for a while now for tips and tricks so thought it time to join and say hello.

On a side note. How well are these things supposed to handle? It still has stock suspension, wheels and tires. It has some pretty massive understeer and just about no grip in the rain. My girlfriends Primera (same as your P11 G20) can turn in sharper with pretty much exactly the same tires. What's up with that?

Do you think these would fit? 16x6.5 4x100 SSR Longchamp XR4Z and how would a 205/45R16 fit on a 6.5" rim due to better availability (possible strut rub?)

Is it possible that something like wheel alignment can affect handling negatively? It tracks in a straight line however the steering wheel is not dead ahead since the prothane engine mounts. Also the tires have a tendency to squeal what I think is quite bad when cornering.

I'm used to my S14 Silvia (what you call a 240sx) which used to go around corners like it was on rails.

The B13 wheels are narrow, and the alignment can definitely affect your handling. I don't know what tires you have, but if you hear them talking too much, they might be shit. The P11 has a much better front suspension, but like the B14s, the rear is lame. You should be out-handling the P11 stock for stock.

I'd love to get me some SSRs, but I think the +43 offset would rub on the rears. I don't know much about the suspension for B13s yet (Gimme time, I have only owned one for 2 weeks, and it doesn't run :tongue

I would love it to have a bit more grip and cornering ability but it wont compare to the Silvia. That thing was on Koni struts, Dobi springs and had some sweet 16" Volks with grippy tires.

I read the thread regarding P11 vs B13 but can definitely say the P11 out cornered my B13. They have EXACTLY the same tires on 14" rims as well.

Took a drive on a twisty, wet, country road today and could feel the car was loose on every single corner at modest speeds. Increasing my motivation for a wider stickier tire.

I've found a guy that wrecks mazda miata's and has a selection of wheels in 4 x 100 stud pattern with reasonable offsets. He has a set of 16x7" TSW Alpines in +35mm. How would those go for clearance with 205/45r16? According to the calculator that puts the tire 14mm closer than the stock rim.

16x7 in +35mm offset should work quite well. A 205 45/16 tire would be fine. Go for it.

Picked these up second hand. Generic brand lightweight 16x7" in +40 offset (made in Japan), wrapped in some 205/45r16 Goodyear Eagle F1 with good tread. They fit well with plenty of room between the rear strut and the rim.

Handling and grip is vastly improved, a well worth while mod.

Welcome Mitt, I agree you live in a cool place, I have looked for a Job down there , The Good year F-1 's are a good tire I had a set of 205-40-17's on my b13 and was pleased with the handling. Have Michelin Pilot Sports now and really impressed with them
