Thread: 1997/200 sx se-r power/battery?Alt? HELP! pls

:nightmare:out of nowhere this morning, my cd player started cutting out power wise, so i took off the face. little later, I stopped at the store for literally a few minutes and when I came out, the battery was dead. wanted to try to turn over, but not much more than a little interior lighting. I got a jump and went to work,. after work, I got a jump and less than2 miiles from where i got the jump, the airbag light started flashing, minimal jerking type motion due to lack of power and car died. I got another jump, luckily, milked the car the whole way home, afraid to use my headlights . eventually I really felt I needed them so I switched them on and the pwer cut out again, speedo went immediately to 0 and airbag light back on. switched off lights and immediately hopped back up to speed according to speedo. the whole way home was jerky, power loss, bty the time I got home, I was rolling in 5th @ 30mph just to get power having to switch gears, pulld in my drive and the car died again.

New battery could also solved this problem. Ran into this same issue several months back on my old GA Sentra.

Might want to get your battery checked also, as deep cycling it like that can kill it.

Is your alternator I had the same issue last month but I didnt make it home. I had to call a tow truck. Do you have any sound system or any acc that you runing with your car? if thats the case you need get a high power alternator or just buy a lifetime guarantee one and change it when the other one goes bad. This is what I did. Hope I could help. If you need help to change your alternatir I can give you a write up so you can do it.

Thank you so much guys! now i just have the minor issue of funding and Ill be good as half way new I guess. I do not have any special audio installed, pretty much stock except theres a basic 1 disk. I would appreciate a write up, I am not inept when it comes to the mechanics, I can ultimately figure it out if I have to, I was a mechanics runner for enough years, my biggest hold up will be leverage and upper body strength if anything is too tight. If there were ANYONE in my area that were able to lend any assist, Id be forever grateful!!

Andreas Miko on this forum has used alternator for cheap. I've a couple for atleast 3-4 each with no issues.
