new to sentras.. not nissans
hey all! recently picked up a b15 spec v after selling my bulletproof volkswagen golf daily driver. I have owned a 1989 240sx se, and currently own a 1994 240sx w/ an sr20vet, and a 1994/5 s14 240sx with a moderately built block.. nothing more than stage 1 internals and i/h/e on that badboy. anyway.. my main reason for joining this sr specific forum is because i have a real major problem with my spec v and i intend to go the cheapest route possible.

the qr25de has stories swaying back and fourth about it being good.. bad.. or even terrible. in my case i don't want to take the chance, and i'm hearing funny sounds come out of that car while i drive. i don't have the time to break the block open and spend hours looking through all the holes and gaps to find abrasion and drop money into - that's what my s14 is for.

to the point - i have an sr20ve already - it's in my hatch.

i just picked up a freshly swapped nx2000 w/ the n/a sr20de.

yes, you got it - what's the process for the swap? i know it's not a drop-in or plug n play... but how can you blame me for buying the whole car with a fresh sr for 500 bux? and yes it runs..

i found everything available for threads about the sr20det swap, or even the sr20ve... nada on an sr20de into a b15 spec v.

i can already assume some of you are already crying out "whyyyy, why the 2.0 and not the 2.5? why 140hp and not 175?!"

one reason, and any sr owner can vouch - reliability.

anyway.. to cut it short... it's nice to be on this forum, and... HELP!

i'm no expert on b15 swaps but i'm guessing you just need the stuff thats different between the 2.5 cars and the se 2.0

I'd say the wiring harness, motor mounts, and having to change the 6speed bell housing would about sum it up.

get a pen and paper ready...lol

you will need harness(engine/engine bay/dash from a b14 or b15 se with a 2.0L) ecu matching the harness, b15 se or b14 crossmember, prolly the mounts...check b15u.com for more assistance, i am sure there is a thread or few there on how to swap a 2.o into a specV

the QR is a good, dependable engine for daily use as long as you dont beat the bag out of it or mod it heavily. biggest issue is pre-cat failure and oil consumption

alright so basically you're saying.. "pull the qr, rebuild the qr, put the qr back in, boost it, tune it, and then smile"

i just summed up the costs between the two and... i shouldn't have gotten the spec v. the 6 speed was sooo enticing though! i also don`t see any SE`s rolling around the city so i don't believe i'm alone on this.

anyway, about the precat and oil consumption - i might as well just rebuild the block for the price i would have spent to make the sr fit into my spec v. a shame though.. i spent 500 bux on a brand new fwd sr / 5 speed in this NX2000 sitting outside lol - i'd also like to boost my qr... i want it a fun daily, don't wanna be restricted 'cause of my weak 6.1k rpm limit

best direction to take when building a bulletproof qr? new camshaft from 07+ qr, bc connecting rods and low compression pistons.. bc springs/retainers, metal headgasket..i dunno.. money money money! ):

i am definitely not saying to rebuild and boost the QR, if you were to rebuild it to keep it as a dailey driver with maybe header/catback/intake then fine but to boost it would lead to failure. even if you did put better internals they are still a week engine overall...only good thing about them is the head design, cut your loss's and sell it, then find yourself a b15 se 2.o or a b14 se/se-l

that's the problem - the only other sentra i'd want would be the older SE-R ones that look like the oldschool camry... but anyway, it's near impossible to find an se b14/15 in my city - they just don't exist... they aren't in the junkyards either. all the wreckers find them elsewhere, but as far as what's available to get... nothing. i actually don't mind the look of the b14 either, has a nice flow to it. but in either case... i've gotta do something with the qr, i'm hearing nasty stuff come out of that motor.
