Thread: body shops?

does anybody in IL know anyone that can give me a good deal on fixing rust? I want to get all the rust on my car fixed and want to get the best possible deal without burning a hole in my pocket.

Please let me know ASAP!

I know the shop I work at wont touch rust. Its not guaranteed to be gone. It can be covered up, but will be back within 5 years, even sooner in the northern midwest. Im sure there are shops out there that will tackle such a job, but they might be hard to come across. At my place, the only way we would take this on is to put a new quarter panel on it. My car has the same problem and I cant get anyone in my shop wanting to take care of it! Sorry if im too much of a downer on the subject.

It's not a cheap 'quick fix' which is why many body shops won't touch it.

It can be done without replacing the panel but it requires time to do it right (meaning more money and more time before you get your car back).

I had a rust repair once at one body shop with a 'lifetime' gaurantee... but that stubborn rust spot kept coming back. After they fixed it the 4th time for free, they told me they were very sorry but no more 'fixes' and that I would have to get a new door to fix it for good because they did the best they could do (sliding door on a caravan).

Instead the caravan got sold being replaced by a brand new one.

Rust (if caught early enough) and fixed properly the 1st time CAN be fixed but it's not easy to do

The most mine has to last is 1 winter than Im moving to Las Vegas so no more rust.. just want it to look good
