Thread: Another SR swap in the good 'ol Kansas

Whats up midwest? It looks like I have got my self into another SR swap. Thanks to sentraser, I got my tranny and then found another RollerRocker to mess with. Just when I thought, I had a decent amount of tools, it turns out I forgot to prepare myself for the drill and tap

Anyways, I will be posting pictures tonight on the swap and then some drill/tap to come in the next few days. I was just thinking that there are no 'how to swap an sr20' videos around I have only done four SR swaps but it never occurred to make a video... Anyways, I'll post up some of the pictures and then see if I can compile the rest into a video which can be hosted on youtube or even this forum...

The beginning of no end in sight!!


One of the reasons for this overhaul (in dire need of cleanup). I bought a jgy heatshield which will go on this time so it doesn't look rusty after the swap. I tried fitting it on and it looks like I will have to do some cutting on the heatshield for adjustment.


Here is my transmission fluid drain plug (loaded with pieces from the transmission)


Finally, after trying to pull it from the top, I ended up removing it from the bottom.


My old and new. I bought the new transmission from Sentraser. An awesome guy (he even got my dent fixed for free!!). Can you see the oil caked burn marks?

Next is the drill/tap section. This was very very interesting. Once again, I had to have help from sentraser with drillbits and air drill. Here are the goodies:



Removed the lower oil pan


Removed the upper oil pan


Mark for drilling the future oil return hole


Let the drilling begin!!
