Chicago area
My wife and I will be going to Chicago this summer and are planning on doing a lot of things downtown but are looking to stay in a nearby suberb. Can anyone advise us on what would be a good one to stay in?

yea schaumberg would be the sub-urb to stay in. Many hotel, huge mall, many great places to eat. If your going to stay in the city their are alot of hotels by mid-way airport and you can take mass transit. The hotels can shuttle you to the train and you can go downtown.

only that area has VERY HEAVY traffic and if you commute by car to/from the city, expect long commutes...

If you go to other suberbs near by (only 10 to 30 minute drive away are many to choose from) then you won't have as bad of traffic to deal with YET still be close to the big mall, restaurants, etc.

most likely not, at this point the ac is out and she doesn't care much for the ride.....but she likes the boost!

Stay away from south side, and far west like Joliet, and extreme north like North Chicago and Waukegan (all bad areas to avoid)

Traffic is usally bad around rush hour. Other then that its not so bad, but traffic is bad anywhere in the chicago land area during rush hour.. But if he is going to be visiting down town alot the cta is his best bet, No traffic and no worring about parking and will take him to the hotel. and if he drives then it will be a 5-7 min drive from midway area. 15-20 with traffic. But it all depends if he's visiting Chicago, or chicago land. Not downing schumberg either thats still a great place to stay, just your not getting that city expericance.
