The funny thing is my car never passed with the original NA motor, With the DET and a new cat it passed. But the CAT was a bolt on aftermarket pos and it fell apart in 6 months prob from the heat since its made for a NA car.
Now I can swap in the test pipe and not worry about it anymore.

PA will never get rid of emissions testing for 95 and older cars. If money is to be made for the state, then why get rid of it. Would put plenty of PA inspection garages out of business unlike NJ which the state runs the emissions testing for free (reason cars 95 and older won't need to be tested).

Agreed, as much as I'd like to see PA take Jersey's lead I doubt it will ever happen, too much money to be made. I'm old enough to remember twice a year vehicle registration and I think it took heavenly intervention to change it to once a year. I remember my dad griping about it every six months.

But let's not forget the wonder of PA classic registration. Car must be 15 years or older, there's no yearly mileage restriction, no emissions testing and it's a once-and-done registration. Winning!

This. I may consider going that route for my 98 SE-R. Hardly a classic at this point, but may not have a choice because of the stupid MIL lights that the overly-sensitive 98 models throw. (Thus because the 97 model was not sold in California b/c of its setup, had to be readjusted) - I had a classic car plate on my 92 SE-R and it seemed to fit. Wouldn't look so right on a B14 but oh well.

You can still get an emission exemption if you drive your car less than 5000 miles between testings.

I wish PA would just go about letting cars being registered/inspected every 2 years.

legally you can only drive it once a week
