charging problems
car died on the home the other night had the alternator and battery tested both good. replaced the alternator harness still a no go. car will run all day long with jumper cables but dies on its own. ran a test light to the positive post on the alternator while the car was on and no power is being made. so i believe that it is the leads that tell the alternator to cut on. anybody know where there is a fuse or relay for this? or can i just run a hot wire to the alternator to charge all the time

Did you check the 75 amp battery fuse yet ? It's the gray one in the fuse box next to the battery ... Had that thing go out on me awhile back and couldn't figure out the issue for the longest time lol

How can your alternator test good, but you are not getting any power from the post? Check your gnd, the plug and the post. Remove it all, clean and inspect all contact points. If this does not correct it, replace the alternator.

it test good because they have leads at advance that tell the alternator to cut on but they are not working on my car. i already tried 3 alternators. i just need a diagram of where the two wires that plug into the alternator go. @ebinkerd

@LAM-PARK @flash89 @ebinkerd thanks for the help guys. i found out what my problem was the fuse for the meters blew and i didnt know that affected the dummy light which in turn kept signal from getting to the alternator telling it to cut on. now just have to find my shorted wire cause the fuse blew again

My suggestion is to run a new wire all together. Chasing shorted wires is a BITCH!

@ebinkerd i found what kept blowing my fuses. it was the damn wire that goes to the useless sensor on the tranny a simple snip fixed that problem right up. not the reverse sensor but the other one
